The Senegal football federation on Wednesday revealed that the Teranga Lions\' new coach will be a French-speaking person from France or Belgium.Senegal will have a new coach within the next two weeks, as the list of close to 60 applicants has been cut to five. The successful candidate must be a French speaker, possibly from France or Belgium, the FA president Augustin Senghor said on Wednesday.“We are progressing little by little in scrutinising the applications for the post of Senegal coach, which are up to 60,” Senghor told reporters in Dakar.“We now have a shortlist of about five to six coaches which we are currently working on. In a day or two, that list will be brought down to two candidates. I can’t reveal those names now but what is certain is that we’ll finally choose somebody from France or Belgium, because we want a coach that can speak fluently the French language,” he added. One name is circulating in Dakar as the favourite. He is the team’s former coach Bruno Metsu, who was recently dismissed by Qatari club Al-Gharafa.The 58-year-old Frenchman has also applied for the Cote d’Ivoire job following the expiration of Francois Zahoui’s contract last month.“We will try to name a new coach before the 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifiers beginning early June and before our team’s workshop of mid May taking place here in Dakar,” Senghor said.
