Scott Hairston homered in the 10th inning Monday, his second home run of the game, and the New York Mets outlasted San Francisco 8-7. Hairston connected for a two-run blast in the eighth, triggering a four-run rally that put the Mets ahead 6-4. The Giants forced extra innings in the bottom of the ninth on RBI from Buster Posey and Nate Schierholtz. Hairston struck again in the top of the 10th off Santiago Casilla (4-5) with a blast to deep left field, and the Mets later added what proved to be the decisive run on Rob Johnson\'s RBI groundout. San Francisco cut the deficit to one run in bottom of the 10th a Schierholtz RBI single, but could come no closer, extending their losing streak to five games. The Giants remained tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers atop the National League West despite the loss, following the Dodgers\' setback against Arizona. Josh Edgin (1-0) earned the victory for the Mets, who took the opener of a four-game series.
