Yadier Molina and Allen Craig both went yard to lead the St Louis Cardinals to a 5-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Travis Wood threw 7 2/3 scoreless innings and scored the go-ahead run - driven in by rookie Anthony Rizzo - as the Chicago Cubs beat the Houston Astros 3-0. David Ortiz scored Dustin Pedroia on a sacrifice fly in the 10th as the Boston Red Sox beat the Seattle Mariners 2-1 for their first extra-inning victory of the season. Kip Wells tossed seven shutout frames to lead the San Diego Padres to a 2-0 win over the Colorado Rockies and the Oakland Athletics overcame the Texas Rangers 3-1. The Detroit Tigers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-3, the Milwaukee Brewers were 2-1 winners over the Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Francisco Giants edged out the Cincinnati Reds 4-3.
