Free agent wide receiver Mario Manningham has agreed to terms with the 49ers on a two-year contract, his agent said. The former New York Giants wideout met Thursday with the 49ers, who also still appear to have interest in Peyton Manning after coach Jim Harbaugh worked him out Tuesday at Duke University. Drew Rosenhaus confirmed Saturday night that his client, Manningham, had reached a deal with the NFC West champions. Manningham, who played at Michigan, will join an upgraded receiving corps that also includes Randy Moss, who signed a one-year contract Monday. Manningham caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning with 8:34 remaining in regulation of the eventual Super Bowl champion Giants\' 20-17 overtime win over San Francisco in the NFC championship game. MIAMI: San Francisco free agent quarterback Alex Smith has left the Dolphins\' complex after a 51/2-hour meeting with the team. The visit Sunday could affect the Peyton Manning sweepstakes, because the 49ers are among three finalists for Manning, along with Denver and Tennessee. NEW ENGLAND: The Patriots have signed former Indianapolis wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez, 27, who had 99 receptions for 1,307 yards and seven touchdowns but has been plagued by injuries throughout his five-year career. SEATTLE: Free agent quarterback Matt Flynn has agreed to terms with the Seahawks on a multiyear deal. Seattle went down this road before when it traded with Green Bay to acquire Matt Hasselbeck before the 2001 season. Hasselbeck eventually led the Seahawks to their only Super Bowl appearance. WASHINGTON: Quarterback Rex Grossman is returning for a one-year deal, fully expecting to help groom Robert Griffin III., whom the Redskins are expected to acquire in the draft.
