Simone Favaro

Italy have called Glasgow Warriors wing Simone Favaro into their World Cup squad after Angelo Esposito saw his tournament hopes dashed by a shoulder injury.

Esposito, originally part of the 31-man squad named by coach Jacques Brunel last week, suffered the injury in Italy's record 48-7 defeat to Scotland last weekend.

It was the Italians' second consecutive defeat to the Scots after a 16-12 reverse in Turin two weeks ago.

The Italians have been drawn in a tough Pool D with France, Six Nations champions Ireland, Canada and Romania for the tournament which is being hosted by England and runs from September 18 to October 31.
