Day five featured two games in Group F in which Hungary overcame Austria 2-0

The first round of the Euro 2016 group stage came to an end on Tuesday night and the tournament's 24 teams scored 22 goals in 12 matches so far, averaging 1.8 goals per game, some way off the average score in the previous edition at 2.45.

    The first day of Euro 2016 saw three goals scored in the opening game as hosts France beat Romania 2-1. The second day was the most productive so far with six goals scored in three games as Switzerland beat Albania 1-0, Wales defeated Slovakia 2-1 and England shared a point with Russia in their 1-1 draw.

    On day three, competing teams scored just four goals in three games as Croatia beat Turkey with a wonder goal from Luca Modric, Poland overcame Northern Ireland with the same result before Germany beat Ukraine 2-0 in Group C.

    The fourth day witnessed five goals as holders Spain scored late on to beat Czech Republic 1-0 in Group D before Sweden came back from behind to grab a point in a 1-1 draw with Republic of Ireland. Italy ensured they started the tournament on a high note as they overcame star-studded Belgium in 2-0 win.

    Day five featured two games in Group F in which Hungary overcame Austria 2-0 and Iceland managed a 1-1 draw with Portugal.
