Chapter Seven, which won the Breeders Cup and seven other races, was voted the 2012 Trotter of the Year by the U.S. Harness Writers Association. Chapter Seven won eight of his 10 starts in 2012 and was second in the other two races. The 4-year-old, which was also voted the Older Male Trotter of the Year, collected purses totaling more than $1 million. Second in the voting was Market Share, which was named the champion 3-year-old Male Trotter. Market Share won 10-of-20 starts and took purses of about $2 million. Both horses are owned by Richard Gutnick and trained by Linda Toscano. Also selected for honors Tuesday were: Frenchfrysnvinegar as 2012 Older Female Trotter; Check Me Out as 3-year-old Filly Trotter; Wheeling N Dealin as 2-year old Male Trotter; and To Dream On as 2-yearold Fully Trotter of the Year. Still to be announced this week are Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year. The Dan Patch Awards are to be presented March 3 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
