Erin Mielzynski gave Canada its first women\'s World Cup slalom victory since 1971 Sunday with 5/100ths of a second win over American Resi Stiegler in Germany. Mielzynski completed the two runs in a combined 1 minute, 53.59 seconds with the American veteran finishing in 1:53.64. \"I knew today would be a special day because the snow was so different,\" said Mielzynski, whose previous top finish was 13th place. \"The hill was prepared very, very well. Feeling the snow out beforehand, I knew anything could happen on a day like today.\" Mariles Schild of Austria took third place. Top contenders Lindsey Vonn of the United States and Tina Maze of Slovenia failed to complete their runs.
