Derrick Rose watched from the bench Tuesday as Richard Hamilton scored 20 points to lead the Chicago Bulls past the visiting New York Knicks 98-86. Luol Deng added 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulls, who took the court without Rose, who continued nursing his aching ankle. Chicago padded its position as top seed in the East playoffs to three games over Miami. The Knicks slipped to eighth place in the East seedings, one game ahead of the Milwaukee Bucks. Carmelo Anthony did his bit for the New Yorkers, who lost for the fourth time in 15 games under interim Coach Mike Woodson. Anthony led the Knicks with 29 points and five assists. J.R. Smith added 14 points for New York. The Knicks shot 42.5 percent from the field and only scored 10 points in the second quarter.
