Chavez\'s blast in the sixth inning increased the Yankees\' lead to 4-1 while Curtis Granderson contributed a pair of RBI as the American League East leaders took the opener of a three-game series. Seattle\'s Kevin Millwood (4-9) was touched for four runs on nine hits in a six-inning start. Dustin Ackley launched a two-run homer and Casper Wells added a solo blast to account for the Mariners\' scoring.
