Robinson Cano homered and added a two-run double during a nine-run second inning Monday that carried the New York Yankees to a 10-2 win over Boston. Cano began the assault with a solo homer against Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz (11-8) and made it 7-0 with his two-base hit. Curtis Granderson, Russell Martin and Mark Teixeira also went deep during the big frame as the playoff-bound Yankees reclaimed sole possession of first place in the American League East with two games to play. Nick Swisher went 3-for-4 with a run scored for New York, which banged out 13 hits in the victory. CC Sabathia (15-6) delivered eight strong innings, yielding a pair of runs on four hits with seven strikeouts. The victory gave the Yankees a one-game advantage over the Baltimore Orioles atop the AL East. Buchholz ended up allowing eight runs on six hits over just 1 2/3 innings.
