A.J. Ellis delivered a game-winning RBI single in the 11th inning Monday, rallying the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 4-3 win over San Diego. The Dodgers were trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth when Andre Ethier socked a one-out solo homer against Luke Gregerson, sending the game into extra innings. Then in the 11th, Ethier collected and Luis Cruz each collected two-out singles against Cory Burns (0-1) and Ellis followed by lining a solid hit to right field, chasing home Ethier with the winning run. Cruz finished 4-for-5 and Hanley Ramirez belted a solo homer for the second-place Dodgers, who took the opener of a three-game series and remained 4 1/2 games behind National League West-leading San Francisco. Brandon League (1-1) earned the victory after tossing two scoreless frames. Chase Headley provided a two-run homer and an RBI single for the Padres.
