Kuwait - Arab Today
Argentina, Brazil, Czech Republic and Italy all made it through to the semi-final of the Kuwait-hosted 2014 Futsal Continental Cup as the home side bid farewell to the tournament on Saturday.
Mauro Canal edged Italy's victory over Argentina in the dying minutes of the encounter after Humberto Honorio's goal was earlier levelled by Cristian Borruto.
The final Group A result leaves Italy and Argentina first and second with nine and six points respectively, as Egypt attained their first win of the tournament, 5-0, over hosts Kuwait, who exit with none.
Meanwhile, Brazil thumped the Czech Republic in a well-deserved 6-1 victory to maintain their dominance of Group B in spectacular fashion with the highest goals tally scored in the tournament so far - 16 goals - and only two conceded.
An enthralling 6-0 win for Japan over Guatemala does little to alter the final group's standings, as both sides lost both of their earlier encounters.
The event resumes on Monday with an all-South American affair between arch rivals, Brazil and Argentina, and an all-European clash between Italy and Czech Republic.
The tournament, hosted by Kuwait, comprised of seven champions of five continental confederations, along with the host nation.
