The Sir Bani Yas Offshore Tour witnessed a fantastic start as 60 sailing enthusiasts rushed to take the lead in the exciting 36-hour nonstop race from Sir Bani Yas to Dubai. They will be pitted not only against the open sea, but also against each other's experience as they sail to claim victory at the Dubai Offshore Sailing Club, DOSC, 175 nautical miles away.
Building on the success of last year's inaugural event, the mariners will take on one of the oldest trading routes in the region, before the winners are crowned at a prize-giving ceremony on April 24th in Dubai. There, the victors will be crowned marking the end of this exhilarating event, which is organised by the Tourism Development and Investment Company, TDIC, in partnership with DOSC.
"The race has got off to a great start, and the sailors' competitive spirit will only grow as they race to their final destination. I wish all the participants the best of luck, and look forward to crowning the champions at the Dubai Offshore Sailing Club," said John Cole, Senior Asset Manager for Sir Bani Yas Corporate Operations at TDIC. "The race is an exciting event which we are confident will only grow with both participants and spectators in its future editions."
