Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa will participate in the Triple Crown Triathlon Championship.
The event's first round is on Friday in Dubai. It will be held under the patronage of the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The Bahrain Triathlon Team members will be participating alongside Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad in this race. The team has continuously been training to reach full preparedness prior a big race, to preserve the achievements of the Bahraini team in various events and to add new achievements to confirm their ability in honouring Bahrain at the highest global stage.
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad stressed that the participation of the Bahraini Team in the Triple Crown Championship comes within the foreign participation adopted by the team, which will seek through to achieve positive results at various levels, pointing out that the team is determined to achieve the best results in the tournament.
He pointed out the importance of this tournament, which will be held in three different Gulf states, beginning with the UAE in Dubai, then in with Muscat before ending in Bahrain.
The organising committee of the Triple Crown Championship has started the countdown for the tournament. They posted a list of participants for both sexes who will compete in three competitions, including swimming, cycling and running.
The swimming contest will start from the neighboring Jumeirah Beach Park area starting at 6.45am. It will begin with different batches so that the last batch will start the challenge at 8am for a total distance of 1.9km and back again to the starting point.
Then, the cycling contest begins for a total distance of 90km through Safa Park, moving through Al Ain street and on to industrial Aweer, then on to the university city and Technical College and return to the starting point at Jumeirah Beach.
The race will conclude with a run for total distance of 21.1km, starting from the Jumeirah Beach start point going to the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and back, twice.
The organizing committee of the tournament has set a list of prizes for the top winners. First place in each category will receive a cash prize of $65,000, while the runner-up will earn $35,000. Third place will receive $20,000, while $9,000 will go to fourth, $6,000 for fifth, $5,000 for sixth, $4,000 for seventh, $3,000 for eighth, $2,000 for ninth and $1,000 for 10th place.
Meanwhile, the Triple Crown Championship was first announced by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad at the Bahrain International Triathlon Championship, which was held in December of last year. Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad announced it during the closing ceremony, which was held at Bahrain International Circuit.
