Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa applauds IAAF President’s efforts.

HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, hailed the enormous efforts by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) to bolster ties among the member countries, stating it has contributed to improving and developing athletics.
HH Shaikh Nasser expressed his support as he received IAAF President Lord Sebastian Newbold Coe in the presence of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth & Sport, President of West Athletics Federation, President of Bahrain Athletics Association and Hesham bin Mohammed Al Jodar, Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs.

HH Shaikh Nasser said that Bahrain, with the patronage and support of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, has taken pioneering steps to support the sport of athletics in general and women's sports in particular, stating that such support has allowed the Kingdom to achieve positive results in various women’s sports.
HH Shaikh Nasser expressed appreciation for IAAF’s selection of Bahrain to host the meeting of the Women’s Sport Development Committee within IAAF.
"Choosing Bahrain as a host for the meeting is in line with the steps taken by the Bahrain Athletics Association to support IAAF’s efforts towards improving women’s sports at local, regional and international level," he said.

Coe praised the development of athletics sportd in Bahrain, highlighting the results achieved by the Kingdom in Rio Olympics as well as the 2017 IAAF World Championships, including winning a gold medal and a silver medal in the former and as many in the latter.
