Kuwait's Salmiya and Tadamon sporting clubs lost their first matches in the 29th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Clubs Table Tennis Championship that kicked off here on Wednesday.
Salmiya lost 1-3 for Qatar's El Jaish in Group A, and Tadamon also lost 1-3 to Bahrain's Bahrain in Group B.
The four-day event is hosted by Tadamon.
Also in Group A, UAE's Al Nasr defeated compatriot Al-Seeb 3-0, while Bahraini Saar beat Saudi Al Ahli 3-2.
In Group B, Al-Arabi (Qatar) beat Al Shabab (UAE) 3-2, after a playoff.
Tadamon Honorary Chairman, Deputy National Assembly Speaker Mubarak Al-Khurainej opened the Championship, with morning and evening matches. He welcomed the participant teams and wished success for the GCC event.
For his part, head of the organizing committee Khaled Al-Rabeh, Tadamon Treasurer, also addressed the opening ceremony saying it is honor for the club to host the GCC Championship.
