The Royal Horse Racing Club (RHRC) will organise the 11th race for the current season under the patronage of Mohsen bin Mohammed Al Sheikh, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, at the Al Rahba Racecourse in Barka on Friday.
The race will include the Omani Derby Cup and Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR) with participation of jockeys from the Sultanate and various countries around the world.
Brigadier Abdul Razaq bin Abdul Qadir al-Shahwarzi, Commander of the Royal Cavalry, Supervisor General of Horse Races said that the upcoming race is among the most prominent horse races being held in the Sultanate due to the participation of strong pure Arabian horses.
He added that we at the RHRC are proud to host the first leg of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR) in the Sultanate. He explained that the race will witness two international rounds for international jockeys.
A draw was held for the Omani Derby Cup and Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR) in the presence of officials from the Royal Cavalry, horse owners and trainers.
The race will include eight rounds as six rounds are allocated for pure Arabian horses and two rounds for thoroughbred horses.
The first and second rounds allocated for pure Arabian horses for 1200 meters each while the third round will be allocated for thoroughbred horses for 1600 meters. The fourth round will be allocated for pure Arabian horses for 1600 meters whereas the fifth round will be dedicated for Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR) for pure Arabian horses for 1600 meters. The sixth round will be allocated for thoroughbred horses for 1600 meters while the seventh round will be for Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR) for pure Arabian horses for 1600 meters. Finally, the eighth round will be for the Omani Derby Cup for pure Arabian horses for 2000 meters.
