Emirati golfer Ahmed al-Musharrekh

Toni Ferrer of Spain, England's Ashley Reese, and Abdul Rahman Isaac from Kenya dominated day one of the Ras al-Khaimah Golf Classic which teed off yesterday in Ras al-Khaimah.
The players each went round in 68 strokes, four below par, while Moroccan Ahmed Morgan scored a 69 to win top place, and took the Sheikh Maktoum Golf Foundation Award, which honours leading Arab professional and amateur players.
The competition includes six other players, most notably Moroccan Amin al-Maliki, from the amateur category, who went round in 70, and Younis al-Hassani, who took first place in the Arab players tournament.
The three-day tournament will see overall participation from 117 players, including 28 amateurs, all competing for cash prizes worth US$50,000.
