It was a lucky 13th week for defending champion and league leader PNB Unified when it recorded its third Team of the Week honors in the Interbank Tenpin Bowlers of Riyadh (ITBR) league at the InterContinental Hotel Bowling Center every Tuesday night. PNB outbowled former champion Saudi Hollandi Bank 357-210 in a grueling match that ended in a draw, as it recovered from defeat in the first two games. Veteran Mixi Lechuga took over during a third game surge by PNB with a high game scratch of 247 that eventually gave him Bowler of the Week award with an 836 series. He was supported by Ronald Cruz and Sonny Alviso who rolled 781 and 720 while Tenz Taeza had 548. James Frizzle and Edwin Nunez tallied 403 and 372 while Roland Garcia added 161. Team captain Greg Antonio led SHB with 801. He was assisted by Gil Hembra, Clem Salazar and Arnel Bernabe with 747, 735 and 700 while Cholo Nieto had 324 and John Warain and Val Baraquio 170 and 134. The match between rival SABB-SAMA and Saudi Investment Bank also ended in a draw at 2-all. However, SABB-SAMA edged SAIB 160-100 with 60 bonus points during the second and third games. The duo of Clem Guelas and Jun Bolocboloc rolled 720 and 680 to inspire their teammates. Dawood Serene, Freddie Solomon and Bernie Torres had 589, 538 and 500 while David Smart rolled 301. Jun Macarandan scored 147. Leading scorer at SAIB was straight bowler Boy Rogel who tallied 705 while captain Dong Calub and Edwin Fontiveros downed 666 and 656. Agie Dazo and Siraj Sakaria rolled 476 and 465 while veteran Joey Salem had 328. Banque Saudi Fransi team captain Jun Bantug failed to find the precise manpower maneuvering to match the performance of handicap-rich and sister-team BSF-CBG. The match also resulted in a draw (130-all). Guest player Francis Guron shot 690 at the helm of BSF. The quartet of Noel Morales, Edwin Timango,Yousef Fernandez and Danny Encinas rolled 558, 542, 512 and 484 while Bantug had 395. Joseph Adao and Jerry Villanueva made152 and 147. Alfred Estrada, Abet Minosa and captain Ken Hechanova kept the momentum of their games to the max with 691, 686 and 661. Guilbert Masias and Art Bumatay rolled 532 and 522 while Ricky Dominguez and Larry Lirazan had 155 and 146. The other match that ended in a draw was between sister teams Alinma Aspire and Alinma Tefa’al (130-100) while SABB Advance, playing bye this week, posted a high score of 340 to improve a notch to fourth in the team standings. Willie Bondoc and Angelo Train led Aspire with 694 and 672. Captain Jojo de Silva and Jerry Barce came through with 553 and 450 while Abdulrahman Ahmed, Ranier Torres and Lito Tolentino tallied 388, 385 and 299. Tefa’al got even with wins during the second and third games but fell short by 8 pins for the extra 30 bonus points. SABB Advance had Jaffer Al-Kathiri showing the way at 790 followed by Sam Alinsod (773), Gerry Austria (725), Ahmed Al Qarquosh (711) and AJ Bonifacio (701).
