Kuwait Handball team defeated Saudi Al-Khaleej 23-22 in their opening match in Asian Club Handball League Championship on Sunday.
Al-Khaleej was a strong contender and played extremely well in their first match against Qatari Al-Jaish team, Kuwait's Team Director Haitham Al-Rashidi told KUNA.
Al-Rashidi added that the Kuwaiti team was leading at one point in the match with four points, yet they were playing too fast which led contributed to losing points.
The director noted that the team can play better in upcoming matches, despite wining the match today which helped push the spirit of players, especially since it was their first match.
Al-Rashidi said that "you can't always judge a team from their first match," stressing that the team aims to be the title holder in this event.
The team will be ready for tomorrow's match against Omani Ahli Sadab, Al-Rashidi added.
