Head of the Kuwaiti delegation and bicycles national team captain Abdullah Al-Shammari confirmed the national team's readiness to participate in the seventh GCC Cycling (Tawaf) championship, especially after their participation in the (third Sharjah tawaf championship) which concluded on Tuesday.
The seventh GCC Cycling championship will kick off on Friday from Oman then to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and ends on December 14 in Qatar through eight race stages and a distance of 800 kilometers, Al-Shammari said in a statement to KUNA.
Al-Shammari also stressed that the Kuwaiti team hopes to get an advanced position in the tournament, which "is a goal that is not easy because of the participation of teams with great experience, but also not impossible." He pointed out that the team is ambitious to increase its expertise in the sport globally, recalling the establishment of the (Kuwaiti cycling team project) that includes professional players, along with the Kuwait national team players in order to gain more experience.
The Kuwait team participated along with 27 other teams in the (third Sharjah tawaf championship) which was held under the patronage of the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, during the period from November 28 until December 2 which included four stages with a total distance of 572 km.
