Schoolboy Khalifa Ali Khalfan Al Jahouri clinched the first place in the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Endurance Cup for Private Owned Horses at the Emirates International Endurance Village at Al Wathba in Abu Dhabi on Friday. The participants were required to cover the UAE CEN 100 kms ride divided into four stages of 33 kms, 27 kms, 24 kms and 16 kms. It drew 45 riders. Jahouri, riding 13-year-old Leo from Al Ain Endurance stables, completed the ride in three hours and 41 minutes with an average speed of 27.149 kmph. The second place went to Rashed Saeed Al Kamda, who completed the ride in three hours, 49 minutes and 36 seconds on Ex Caliber from Al Kamda Stables. Saeed Ahmed Jaber Al Harbi on Rowallan Simon from Faisal Bin Zaal Private Stables clocked 3:51.26 to take third place. The14-year-old had earlier won a 100-km ride on the same horse and had also won the President’s Cup for Juniors “I am very happy with this victory which I dedicated to my father. I followed his instructions,” Jahouri said after his win. His father Ali Khalfan Al Jahouri is a national team rider and trainer of endurance horses. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikha Fatima Bint Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Adnan Sultan Al Nuaimi, director general of Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, Lara Sawaya, director of the Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival and Head of IFAHR Ladies Racing, and Saif Al Awani, managing director of Al Awani gave away the prizes. An amount of Dhs 350,000 was distributed to all riders who finish the race while the winner got a Nissan car.  Source : Gulftoday
