The International Egyptian Marathon kicked off Friday from the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut in Luxor with the participation of 19 countries worldwide.

The marathon sends a message that Egypt is stable and secure, said Gasser Riyad, head of the Egyptian international marathon.

All service departments in the governorate have partaken in this important event, he said.

Riyad pointed to coordinated efforts with all authorities concerned to secure the marathon course.
