Bahrain International Circuit will this weekend be hosting the eighth annual edition of the hugely exciting Gulf Run in Sakhir. Taking place today and tomorrow (Editor’s note: Thursday and Friday, January 24 and 25), more than 60 sports cars from Kuwait will be featuring in the event, which has become a regular fixture on the BIC calendar. Activities in the Gulf Run will be held from 10am to 7pm on each day. This year’s events will include not only a drive along BIC’s world-renowned Grand Prix track, which hosts some of the most prestigious international racing championships in the world. It will also see participants taking to the circuit’s state-of-the-art quarter-mile drag strip, which is a member of the Worldwide Network of the National Hot Rod Association. Plus, they will then enjoy some time out on BIC’s VIVA Karting Track, which recently motorsport history by becoming the first-ever karting facility anywhere on the globe to host a world championship-level race under floodlights. Ahmed Mudhaf, Gulf Run Chief Executive Officer, said that all the participants expressed their delight in returning to BIC and that they are all looking forward to enjoying one of their most highly anticipated yearly events. Mudhaf added that such occasions are not only meant for the pleasure of motorsport enthusiasts, but they also aim to educate people on the safety aspects of motoring. “I would like to thank Bahrain International Circuit, in particular Chief Executive Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa, for welcoming us once again,” Mudhaf said. “Their efforts in organising the Gulf Run are second to none, and we highly appreciate everything BIC does to ensure that we have the best event possible.” Amongst the leading international car brands that will be seen taking to the track in the Gulf Run are Audi, BMW, Caterham, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Ford, Honda, Lamborghini, Lexus, Lotus, Mercedes, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Porsche. BIC has allocated a number of garages for the use of the participating drivers.
