Egyptian player Mohamed El-Shorbagy defeated his compatriot and world number five Karim Darwish 3-1 on Friday to set up a semi-final clash against Frenchman Gregory Gaultier in the $1,65,000 Punj Lloyd PSA Masters. El-Shorbagy won the first game 11/9 but Darwish leveled the score with a 11-8 win in the second. However, El-Shorbagy won the last two games 11/5 and 11/3 to book a semi-final berth. It is the first ever win for El-Shorbagy over Darwish who had reached the final in both of the last World Series. The first seed Egyptian Ramy Ashour was eliminated from the tournament after losing to Englishman Peter Barker 3-1 (11/13, 11/7, 11/8 and 11/1) in the quarter final, which also took place on Friday. El-Shorbagy will face fourth seed Gaultier on Saturday 17 December.
