Bahrain International Circuit, ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’, will be hosting the third and penultimate round of its Ramadan Drifting events this Friday night (August 19, 2011) in Sakhir. The immensely exciting spectacle of one of the most extreme forms of motorsport attracted more than 60 participants in its previous meeting held last Friday, giving fans a thrilling showcase of supreme car control. The upcoming event will be adding to those highlights at Car Parks numbered five and six, located adjacent to the circuit’s Main Grand Stand. Those interested in taking part and burning rubber against other top Drifters from across Bahrain and beyond can register at the circuit on the evening itself between 8 p.m. and 8.50 p.m. prior to the start of competition. The registration desk will be located at Car Park number 16. Action will begin at 9 p.m. and continue until 12midnight or later, making for an entire evening’s entertainment. Prizes will be distributed to the winners at around 1 a.m. Members of the public will be able to attend completely free of charge. Awaiting them as a special treat will be a large number of commemorative gifts, courtesy of Bahrain International Circuit, which will be given out to the first groups of people to arrive for the evening’s action. By organising such a Drifting event during Ramadan, Bahrain International Circuit aims to attract the Kingdom’s youth, in particular all amateur motor racing fans, to compete in the sport in a safe and controlled environment, and not on public roads. The entry fee to take part is 2 BD. For fans who want to get closer to all the action, there will be a VIP entrance where they can go through for 5 BD. Friday’s event will be followed by the Ramadan Drifting finale, which will take place in Sakhir on August 26. In order to ensure complete safety for the drivers and fans in attendance, all participants’ cars will have to undergo a thorough inspection by officials and must meet strict competition regulations to take part.
