Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan Al Maktoum, Chairman of Al Nasr Football Company, approved a proposal by Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) to stage the Traditional 60ft Al Yamamah Dhow Race will be held under the slogan "Al Yamamah". Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) on 25 October 2014.
DIMC said the date of the race was changed to celebrate the winning of Dubai Crown Prince HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, of individual gold medal in the 2014 FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Normandy, France.
Sheikh Rashid has allocated DH 10 million and three luxury cars for the first three winners, making the race the highest in value of traditional marine sports since the traditional races launched in the country.
Arif Al Zaffain, member of the DIMC's board, said the DIMC's sports committee would make preparations to transform the race into a colourful traditional heritage carnival in celebration of Sheikh Hamdan's victory in France
