The first ever Arabian Gulf shooting tournament for policemen, with participation from six national teams of the gulf police unions, kicked off on Sunday and will last for four days.The tournament aims at increasing awareness and practice to such sports which are connected to daily police tasks and would contribute in improving their skills, the chairman of the Organizing Committee for the tournament Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said in the opening ceremony.Sheikh Ahmad also mentioned that the tournament will be a great opportunity for policemen to exchange views and experience among themselves and will in turn bolster their skills, particularly for similar but international sport gathering.\"Kuwait\'s Police Sporting Club was keen to host such event, and implement decisions made during GCC Interior ministers, which called for such sporting events,\" Sheikh Ahmad said.He also hailed support by Kuwait Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Al-Hmoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to sports in the police task force, which improved and expanded experience to policemen in international arenas.Sheikh Ahmad also thanked head of delegations for their participation and keenness to ensure success of the tournament.The opening ceremony also witnessed a number of shooting activities and showcasing by policemen, in addition to drama and performances which shed light on the importance of unity among GCC nations.
