Algeria won five places to leap to the 15th position of the FIFA October’s rankings published Thursday. This is a historical ranking in the history of the Algerian football.
This progress is explained by the two games won against Malawi (0-2 and 3-1) on 11 and 15 October, as part of the Days 3 and 4 of playoffs for the African Cup of Nations (CAN-2015) planned in Morocco which requested the postponement of the competition because of the Ebola epidemic.
Algeria, still atop of the African countries, is ahead of the Cote D’Ivoire with ten places, its closest rival. Only two places separated the two counties in September rankings.
In the Arab world, Algeria is also leader, topping Egypt, which gained 23 places at the world ranking and leapt to 38th position. Its two victories against Botswana (0-2 and 2-0), were beneficial.
