More than 320 volunteers from Sanid and Takatof programmes, the Emirates Foundation's leading voluntary social programmes, have contributed to the smooth running of one of the largest international sporting event, 2015 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Grand Prix, which was recently held in Abu Dhabi.
The 2015 Formula 1 Grand Prix is an international auto racing sport held in different countries including the UAE. This annual, flagship event attracts people from around the world to visit the host country. As in previous years, Sanid and Takatof volunteers were assigned and recruited though the programmes' website and through the universities recruitment campaigns. 320 volunteers played a vital part in the event, including meeting and greeting spectators at Yas Marina Circuit and ensuring the safety of the crowd during the race The global event, which attracts more than 50,000 fans from around the world every year, has helped develop their interest and skills in motorsport, event management and public engagement Maytha Al Habsi, Chief Programmes Officer, Emirates Foundation said, "It is extremely essential that the volunteers take part in activities and events across the country as part of the Takatof Programme's strategy to motivate youth to volunteer and invest their time to express and carry out their social responsibility
