Mauritania’s state radio stations have organised a range of workshops for production and editing. Director-general of radio Mohamed el-Sheikh Walad Sayed Mohamed told Arabstoday the workshops are aimed at “determining technical templates of the news” as well as establishing new principles in writing and editorial output. State-run Radio of Mauritania was first established in June 1957 in the Senegalese city of St Lewis, the headquarters of the French occupation. The station is considered one of the oldest and most revered institutions in Mauritania today.
