Ras al-Khaimah - Arab Today
Heavy showers lashed the southern areas of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah late on Tuesday and early Wednesday.
The rain, which lasted for a short time, flooded the mountain passes at the valleys of Shawkah, Barraq, Asafni and Kadra, according to residents there.
There was a significant drop in the mercury levels in most southern areas and residents were seen enjoying the rare summer rains.
Ahmed Sultan, a resident of Shawkah area, said the sky became heavy with clouds and it rained for some 20 minutes. "Though the valleys and mountain passes were filled with water, no farms were flooded."
Meanwhile, the RAK police deployed more patrols to control traffic flow at the areas hit with the seasonal showers, and urged drivers to take due precautionary measures.
As per the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology, the weather is expected to be dusty and partly cloudy in some areas the next couple of days. Winds will be light to moderate in general, while relative humidity will be higher at night and early morning.
