Sana’a University

A member of the administrative board of the Union of Sana’a University members Hisham Mohamed Nagy said that they went on strike after holding consultations with the members of different faculties, saying that they take into account the educational process.

He added that they were keen to meet with students and staff members of different colleges in the university not to allow the strike affect the educational system or leave negative effects on the students or their families.

He added that the turned to this way due to the ignorance of their demands, saying that the employees and members of faculties have not received their salaries since months. He added that they take into account the current conditions witnessed in the country.

He stressed that they want only their basic salaries, saying, “We have not demanded the other rights existed in the other countries, including housing or health care.” He added, “We have other demands related to the release of professors and their sons imprisoned without committing any violations.”

He praised the increasing response to the strike, saying that 40 members of Literature College suspended their work in response to the call. He continued, “The university’s chairperson and his deputies have been hired by Houthis without any legal measures.”

He added that the Houthis still control the university in the presence of the current chairperson of the university, calling the Yemeni officials for finding solutions to the current problems facing Sana’a University.
