Ambassador Abdulaziz al-Adwani

Kuwait's Ambassador to Russia Abdulaziz Al-Adwani described Kuwait's participation in Hermitage Museum 250th anniversary as reflective of the deep cultural relations between Kuwait and Russia.
In a statement to (KUNA), Al-Adwani said that that cooperation and relations with the Russian museum dates back to 1990 during the Iraqi invasion.
In that period, Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah, which is partaking in the current celebration, and the Hermitage Museum protected and preserved many of the artifacts from the Al-Sabah family Collection.
The Ambassador went on saying that an exhibition of the collection was held during the Iraqi occupation and Gulf War.
The ambassador hailed the museum's director Professor Mikhail Piotrovsky's role in providing care for Kuwaiti owned antiquities.
The Hermitage Museum 250th anniversary will include the opening of the new exhibition spaces in the Eastern Wing of the General Staff Building (new art exhibition of the 19th-20th-21st centuries), the newly restored Great Church of the Winter Palace, the Small Throne Hall and the White Column Hall with the new permanent display of oriental arms and armors; the new exhibition space in the Small Hermitage, and the newly opened next stage of the restoration and open storage facility.
The museum was founded by Catherine the great in 1764 includes three million pieces.
