Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam on Wednesday said that Islam has been affected by the wrong ideologies of extremists who are not aware of the real teachings of Islam.

Speaking to the French newspaper "Le Monde", Allam asserted that a number of extremists instigate violence and commit terror acts across the world under the guise of Islam.

The Mufti stressed that Islam is a moderate religion that condemns all acts of terror and violence.
