Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam asserted on Monday that the emergence of Daesh and other terrorist organizations was mainly caused by the misinterpretation of the Holy Quran.
Allam made the remark during a workshop entitled “Confronting terrorist groups' thoughts” organized by the World Association for Al-Azhar Graduates.
During the workshop, Allam said Daesh and other terrorist groups misinterpreted nearly 50 verses of the Quran and that Darul Iftaa found 200 new fatwas that threaten the security of Islamic nations and incite Takfiri thoughts.
