Jordanian King Abdallah II condoled with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the victims of the Russian plane that crashed earlier Saturday in central Sinai.

In a statement by the Royal Hashamite Court, the king sent a cable of condolences to Putin, expressing deep sorrow over the tragic accident.

The plane, carrying 217 people along with seven crew members, disappeared from radars only 23 minutes after taking off from Sharm el Sheikh on its way to the Russian city of St. Petersburg.
