Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam condemned the terrorist operation against a police checkpoint in Sadat township of Menufiya, leaving two policemen killed and five others, including two civilians, wounded.

In a statement released on Sunday, Allam asserted that extremist groups are seeking to spread panic and destabilize the country, adding that their attempts would never bear fruit.

He conveyed condolences to the families of the dead and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
