Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid

Egypt offers condolences to Indonesia over the victims of the powerful earthquake that hit Aceh province near the island of Sumatra in western the country, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said on Wednesday.

The 6.5-magnitude quake left at least 97 people dead.

Egypt stands by the Indonesian government and people in this tragedy, Abu Zeid added, expressing his solidarity with the victims’ families and wishing speedy recovery for the injured.
