The Cairo Criminal Court postponed until Saturday the trial of political activist Alaa Abdel Fattah and 24 others accused of violating Egypt’s protest law.
The session was delayed to hear the defense team's arguments.
Abdel Fattah and co-defendants are charged with blocking the traffic during demonstrations outside the Shura Council on November 26 last year, demonstrating without permit and attacking policemen.
Abdel Fattah and 24 other defendants were sentenced in absentia to 15 years, handed an EGP 100,000 fine, and put under surveillance for a period of five years. They were found guilty of violating the Protest Law, and were later granted a retrial.
