Despite Israel’s closure of the main road leading to Khan al-Ahmar village, east of Jerusalem, hundreds of Palestinians performed Friday prayer in the village which is facing an imminent threat of demolition by Israeli authorities.
The worshipers also took part in a nonviolent march at the main Jerusalem-Jericho road, which passes near the village, to express their rejection of the Israeli move. The protesters chanted slogans condemning Israel’s plan to demolish the village.
Khan al-Ahmar, a few kilometers to the east of Jerusalem, is under threat by Israel of demolition and displacement of its Bedouin community in order to build a Jewish settlement on the location.
Last Sunday, the Israeli occupation forces ordered the residents of the Bedouin community to dismantle their homes and leave the community before the start of October.
