Women will be allowed to lie to their husbands to vote 'Yes' in the referendum

Women will be allowed to lie to their husbands to vote 'Yes' in the referendum Cairo - Akram Ali Women will be allowed to lie to their husbands to vote "Yes" in the referendum on Saturday, a leader of the Salafist Dawah issued in a fatwa. Wives will be permitted to attend the polling station without her husband's consent if he rejects the constitution draft, said Yasser Burhami, deputy leader of the Salafist Dawah.    The statement came in response to a question put to him by a wife asking whether it would be permitted for her to go out to vote Saturday without her husband’s disapproval due to his opposition to the constitution. Burhami answered: “Ask his permission to go out for any other reason without mentioning the vote, and then attend the referendum.” The head of al-Azhar’s fatwa committee, Abdel Hameed el-Atrash, told Arabstoday that Burhami’s fatwa violated Islamic law: “The husband must be aware of his wife’s movements wherever she goes.” Al-Atrash added that such fatwas were unsound, describing them as attempt to mobilise the Islamist forces to achieve a larger percentage of "Yes" votes.
