Gang wanted £1 million ransom Khartoum – Abedalgoum Ashmeag Sudan\'s security forces have foiled a plot to kidnap a Syrian woman in Khartoum, the national newspaper The Sudanese reported on Friday. Two Syrians, an Egyptian and a Sudanese national were all members of the group that planned to carry out the attack, the newspaper said. The kidnappers are thought to have been intending to drug the victim and carry her away in a bag, before demanding a million-dollar ransom for her return. All of those involved in the criminal scheme were put in prison. The newspaper reported that security forces had monitored the plan since its inception and provided protection to the Syrian woman and her family. Responding to the news, Sudan\'s Security Director Mohamed Atta al-Mola said the country’s security forces were capable of protecting foreigners and deterring criminals, the newspaper said. He added that the planned crime was alien to tolerant Sudanese society, and that all Syrians living in the country enjoyed security.
