Algerian Minister of Mujahideen Mohammed al-Sharif Abbas said France must apologise for the crimes they committed during the colonisation period. Former French Defence Minister Gerard Lungi continued to insult the revolution and made some insulting gestures which were caught by French Senate cameras. Lungi said he would not apologise and that France should not be ashamed to have been in Algeria during that period. The former minister of Nicolas Sarkozy’s government spoke against the martyrs the night before the 58th anniversary of the November 1 Revolution. Lungi said he hoped for calm Algerian-French relations. His gestures which were described as “rude” had a strong reaction from the political class in Algeria. Secretary General of the National Liberation Front Abdulaziz Belkhadem said the French Minister acted unprofessionally in front of the cameras. Secretary General of the Mujahideen National organisation Al-Saeed Abado said Lungi’s actions do not represent France.
