Saudi forces kill one Daesh member in raid on terror cells

Saudi Interior Ministry announced Wednesday that Saudi forces had killed an Islamic State (IS) member and arrested another in Riyadh, Saudi Press Agency reported.

The ministry spokesperson highlighted that the incident occurred when the police deployed to a furnished apartment in Riyadh to deal with a man suspected to be a member in the terrorist group on Tuesday.

He was killed when he resisted his arrest and tried to shoot at the forces. Another man staying with him was arrested and the weapon was confiscated.

The spokesperson highlighted that no civilians in the area were injured during the arrest.

The operation was part of major steps by Saudi Arabia to tackle terrorism activities by IS members and supporters in the country.

The country has dismantled last month four terror cells and arrested 18 suspects, located in Mecca, Medina, Riyadh and Al-Qassim.

The newly discovered cells had connections with other groups and individuals who were either killed or arrested during recent raids.
