Death toll of Jakarta fireworks factory explosion rises to 47

The death toll from an explosion that hit a fireworks factory outside the Indonesian capital, Jakarta rose to 47, Indonesian officials said on Thursday.

An explosion took place earlier in the day at an industrial complex in Tangerang, west of the capital Jakarta, Euro News Network reported.

“In total 47 people died", Tangerang Kota police chief Harry Kurniawan said, adding that they don’t know for sure the number of people who are still unaccounted for.

Police said that dozens of seriously injured people were carried to three nearby hospitals.
