At least 26 were killed and tens others injured in various areas of Punjab province in eastern Pakistan Thursday morning as a result of torrential rains.
Pakistani media sources reported that the death toll was mostly in Lahore city where houses collapsed and that some victims died because of incidental electrocution caused by flood waters. 

Six family members were killed when their two-storey home collapsed in Shah Miran near Lahore. Seven others were killed and five injured in separate incidental collapsing of their homes in Johar Town, Jolshan Rawi and Thamnabad in Lahore. Also, eight others were killed and fifteen injured in Sialkot and Narwal near Lahore city. Five others were killed in separate incidental electrocution cases in Faisalabad, Mianwali, Samandari and Daska. 

Forecasters expect heavy rains to continue for two to three days, and cautioned from possible flashfloods in areas close to riverbanks and watercourses. (IY)
