Casablanca - Saeed Ali
Morocco’s Ittihad Tanger head coach Abdelhak Benchikha said that his instructions to the players during half-time, contributed to their win over Kenitra Athletic Club 1-0, in the game held on Wednesday, in the seventh week of the Moroccan professional league.
Benchikha told Morocco Today that his team suffered a lot in the first half of the match, as KAC Kenitra came to Tanger hoping to benefit from their draw in the first leg match, pointing out that he carried out an important substitution in the second half which resulted in a late goal.
In regard with the next match against Raja Casablanca scheduled on 26 February, Benchikha said that it would be a fierce derby, but IR Tanger will deal normally like other league matches, adding that they aim to achieve a positive result to maintain their high ranking in the league table.
Benchikha asserted that the second round of the league will be difficult for all the teams, noting that it is difficult for any team to win all its matches, no matter the conditions of the other team.
Regarding the qualification to the next stage of CAF Confederation Cup, Benchikha said that players of IR Tanger are full aware that they represent the Moroccan football in this competition, which is the first time for IR Tanger, and ‘I believe that my team will go further in this tournament. "
He added that he hopes that his team reaches the group stage of the CAF Cup. IR Tangier will face Guinean AS Kaloum Star in their first leg match scheduled on 11 March in Guinea, while the second leg match will be held in Tanger on 18 March.
