Israel’s Channel 2 reported that the ISraeli Planning Committee approved building 98 new settlement untis near the Shvuet Rachel illegal settlement, northern West Bank.

According to PIC, an Israel-based watchdog, Peace Now, slammed the approval, since it is illegal and will be built of West Bank Palestinian lands.

In a statement, the movement said that “while world leaders gathered in Occupied Jerusalem for the funeral of former Israeli statesman Shimon Peres, who died on Wednesday and was buried on Friday, the Israeli government is establishing a new settlement in the heart of the West Bank, in a barefaced challenge to the international community.

Under international law, Israeli settlements in Occupied Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank are considered illegal
